The Law as an Instrument for Our Good
One thing that Christian’s frequently fail to notice is that the law protects the Christians happiness. Sin is a disease that offers no lasting joy. Obedience offers peace and joy. The reality of life is that nothing is so miserable for happiness as a life devoted for sin. One purpose of God’s law is to protect our joy. Living a Godly life is not a killjoy thing it is in fact a life of joy. Obviously some people do suffer for doing good, but typically good works increase happiness rather than detract from it.
