One thing I am convinced of is that God wants us to obey him because he love us. When we sin one of the consequences is that sin destroys the joy in our life. Living in obedience to Jesus does not spoil our happiness it allows our happiness to be complete. God's commands, in the long run, are not burdensome - they protect us and our happiness.
